Medium voltage cables are generally divided into single-core cables, three-core cables and flame-retardant cables. Single-core cable consists of a conductor, insulation layer and sheath, suitable for DC system, while the three-core cable contains three mutually insulated conductors, suitable for AC system. The flame-retardant cable has self-extinguishing characteristics in the event of a fire and has higher safety.
The structural design of these cables allows them to operate normally under various environmental conditions. The insulation layer of medium voltage cables is usually made of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) or cross-linked polyvinyl chloride (XL PVC), which has good heat resistance and electrical insulation properties. The sheath design can protect the conductor from the external environment and extend the service life of the cable.
